I Ran Out Of My Favorite Cleansers So Here’s What I’m Using Instead

There’s nothing worse than running out of your favorite beauty product, especially when you know you can’t afford to repurchase right away. I ran out of two essential beauty products at the same time (!!!) which is also a nightmare. When I need to replace something, I don’t necessarily look for dupes (a cheaper option with similar formula and ingredient list) I look for something that will achieve the same (or similar) goals.

One Love Organics Vitamin B Cleansing Oil

I love to double cleanse! Removing make up and grime with an oil based cleanser, and then washing off the remains with something a little stronger.  This cleansing oil is my absolute favorite. Why?

  • Smells like pineapple
  • Removes every trace of make up
  • 100% Natural and Cruelty Free

This specific product is from their collaboration with Elizabeth Dehn, founder of the award winning blog BeautyBets.Com. A 2016 recipient of the 2016 Glamour Beauty Awards, this cleansing oil is formulated with papain fruit enzymes and a natural Vitamin B complex. The texture is perfect with just the right amount of slip, plus the pumpkin and papaya seed oil keep my complexion bright. Sounds great, right? It is. BUT IT’S $42.00! This brand is dermatoligst tested, made in micro batches and sustainably packaged. It is worth every penny, but I do not have all of the pennies necessary to repurchase right now. SO, this is what I’m using in the mean time..

Lush Ultrabland Facial Cleanser

This thick emulsion of beeswax, honey and essential oils makes your skin SO. SMOOTH. I love to massage it into my face, get all the make up off, and then leave it on for a bit. It’s easier to travel with since it’s more of a balm than an oil (though it is forumlated with almond oil) and at $29.95 for 3.5oz, it makes more sence for me to purchase right now. This is still a total pleasure to use, as it removes make up while leaving you with a soft and supple face.

Aesop Parsley Seed Cleanser

This is my preferred second cleanser - a gel formula that provides a nice lather while also mildly exfoliating with lactic acid, leaving skin incredibly soft and renewed. When used alone over and over again, it can be a little stripping, which is why I love to pair it with an oil based cleanser. I don’t want you to think I’m someone who can pay $60.00 for a face wash (because thats how much this costs!) I was lucky enough to get a travel size for free from a friend. You only have to use the tiniest bit of product so it lasted me quite a long time. It's a beautifully packaged plant based cleanser with good for you ingredients, so it was a sad day when it finally did run out. Instead, I’ve been using..

Andalou Naturals Citrus Kombucha Cleansing Gel

This is a clarifying cleansing gel with Vitamin C AND Lactic Acid! Woo, baby, get ready for some RADIANCE. This is similar to Aesop in that it..

  • has plant based ingredients
  • creates a gentle lather
  • mildy exfoliates

Perfect to use after cleansing with an oil. Used more than once a day, this formula may be stripping for those with drier complexions. This is in no way a “dupe” for Aesop’s Parsley Seed Cleanser, but it only costs $12.96 for 6 ounces! Plus, I got it for even cheaper on the Amazon Prime Day sale. I can’t say that I’ll definitely repurchase, but I am happy to use this product in the meantime. I’d love to try this Eminence Organic Skin Care Monoi Age Corrective Exfoliating Cleanser, which is pricier ($38.00) but still a lot less than Aesop!

These products will work quite nicely as I take some time to save up and repurchase their more sophisticated (read: more expensive) contemporaries.
